The Remarkable Group has helped organise a visit to Number 10 Downing Street for 20 terminally and seriously ill children to meet the Prime Minister and his wife.
The occasion, hosted by Gordon and Sarah Brown, marked 20 years for Midhurst-based charity Dreams Come True fulfilling dreams for sick young people.
Catherine Reid, PR account manager at Winchester-based Remarkable, helped make the event run smoothly by working closely with the charity and Number 10’s press office.
Dame Kelly Holmes, Dreams Come True’s ambassador, played a key role in creating the opportunity for the charity and introduced the Prime Minister to all the families individually on the day.
The families were treated to a tour of the offices and one lucky visitor went home with the Prime Minister’s tie! Not one to miss an opportunity and seeing the Prime Minister had the same taste in ties as himself, Max Brimble from Dorchester, asked whether they could swap their lilac coloured neckwear. The Prime Minister was happy to hand over his tie, leaving Max to keep his own.
Catherine said: “All the families had a wonderful time and it was a fantastic birthday party for the charity. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I was thrilled to be part of it.”
Paul Kirtley, chairman of Dreams Come True trustees, said: “We are honoured to have been invited to Number 10. The day was all about the families and it was wonderful that both the Prime Minister and his wife could be there to meet everyone. The charity has worked hard over the last 20 years to fulfil over 3,500 dreams and we are looking to help many more children over the next 20 years.”
