Remarkable runners team up with client for marathon effort

Two directors from Hampshire based marketing communications agency the Remarkable Group have again teamed up with a client to run an international marathon for charity.

Chris Wotton and Lisa Alexander will be running the Chicago Marathon on Sunday 12 October with Mark Sennitt, a planning director for top rated house builder Orchard Homes.

Having run the 26.2 mile New York Marathon last November in five hours, the trio are looking to reach the finishing line just over four hours this time around. Both Mark and Chris are running for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust while Lisa runs for Cancer Research. They hope to raise over thousands of pounds between them for their two charities.

Lisa commented; "It was Mark who sowed the seed in my mind that running another marathon would be a good idea, and I had missed having a reason to go out and train. I then just had to use some serious powers of persuasion to convince Chris to dust down his running shoes and start the whole training programme again!"

Chris, whose brother Tim suffers from Cystic Fibrosis (CF), had said that he would never do another marathon again after the grueling New York. He said; "Running a marathon is an amazing experience but it took me over three months to recover! Raising money for CF was a major reason for agreeing to go through the pain barrier again, although my legs are beginning to regret the decision."

The three of them have been training together in Southampton all summer in preparation for the 26.2 miles.

Mark, whose brother's son was diagnosed with CF last year, added; "It's a great experience and I know everyone at Orchard Homes and Remarkable are right behind us."

Last year Chris and Lisa were given a personal letter of support from Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah who have a son with CF.

Stephen Pomeroy, chief executive of the Remarkable Group, said; "We are very supportive of all three runners. I'm sure everyone at both companies are behind them every step of the way."

Ken Lake, Managing director of Orchard Homes added; "I wish them all the best for the run. It certainly takes building client relationships to a whole new level!"

Chris and Lisa hope to raise thousands of pounds for Cystic Fibrosis and Cancer Research Trust and have set up a just giving page for anyone wishing to sponsor them. Visit www.justgiving.com/lisaalexander and www.justgiving.com/chriswotton
